It's already week 15?!!! Wow, time really flies without waiting for anyone ^^ We have already reached the end of this trimester...So fast... too fast... but I am really glad we managed to cover everything that ought to be covered to prepare you guys for the final exam. Nevertheless many students have stopped attending classes and they were not there when we did revision using the green exam book which is such a pity as we actually attempted past year papers together gather and this is crucial as it is the actual application of what we have learned for the past 14 weeks. Nonetheless, if you did not come for classes, do attempt the papers on your own...It is a MUST before the exam if you plan to score for the finals. Do contact me if you need clarification or assistance during your revision...Don't be shy k...
Remember, the exam is divided into3 sections. Section A ~ Reading (25 marks), Section B~ Grammar (15 marks) and also Section C~ Writing (Information transfer 20 marks)...Do make sure you allocate time for each section ya.
Do also print you exam slip before the exams and also do not be late ya as anyone who comes late over 30 minutes will not be allowed to sit for the paper. That would be disastrous! Please bring along the student ID or ur IC...
All de best from all my heart! ^^ It has been a great trimester and I really enjoyed teaching all of you. Since none of us are perfect, I apologise for any flaws and shortcomings on my part.
Continue writing on your blogs ya ^^
Happy Holidays!!!!!^^

Tensed about Tenses
Dearest Students,
Here is the last part ~ Future tenses ^^
Simple Future = An action or something that we predict will happen in the future. Ex: I think it will rain tonight or I think it is going to rain tonight...Both are equally correct since you are making a prediction. Remember, ONLY INDEPENDENT CLAUSE can be used with the future tense, DEPENDENT CLAUSES MUST USE simple present. For Ex: When he sees you, he will pass you the money. NOT When he will see you, he will pass you the money.
Future Progressive~Will be verb+ing = An action that will be happening or progressive at a certain time or when a certain action happens in the future. For Ex: I know Lim sleeps every night at 10; you asked me if you could visit her at 10.30, I would say no because if you go at 10.30 p.m. you won't meet her because she will be sleeping then.
Future Perfect ~ Will have + Past participle verb = To show 2 different actions that will both happen in the future and future perfect will show action 1 while simple present can be used to show 2nd action. For example: I will move to London in September; you will graduate in November. So action 1 of moving to London will happen first before you graduate later. To write the sentence: By the time you graduate, I will have already moved to London ^^.
Future Perfect Progressive ~Will have been + Verb+ing = To show the duration between 2 future actions.
I will start cooking at 8.00 p.m. tonight; you will come and help me by 10 p.m. Sentence: By the time you come and help me tonight, I will have been cooking for 2 hours!
It can also mean an action that has already started but needs to continue to the future in order to meet the required time. For ex: Professor Lim will have been teaching in MMU for 9 years by the time he retires in 2 months' time. This means until now, Prof Lim has been teaching for 8 years and 10 months but needs to teach for another 2 months into the future to meet the total 9 years of service.
That's ALL ^^ Still no questions? ^^ Please feel free to ask.....

Ms Jasline

Tensed about Tenses
Dearest students,
As promised ^^ Past tenses
Simple Past = An action that already happened and ended and time is very important, for instance, last year, night, etc or can show one action happened n was immediately followed by another action, For ex: When he saw the tiger, he pretended to be dead. (immediate response~ see, pretended)
Past progressive = was/were+ verb+ing
~An action was in the middle of happening at a certain time in the past. ex: I was sleeping at 12 a.m. last night means at 12 a.m. i was already deep in my sleep, in the MIDDLE of the action.
~ 2 past actions were happening together without interruption from either one. For ex: While the teacher was teaching in class, her students were taking down notes. These 2 actions were in progress at the same time in the past.
~ 2 past actions but a shorter actually interrupted or happened during the progressive action. for ex: While Tom was trying to change the light bulb, he slipped and fell. So he was in the middle of changing the bulb when he actually slipped and fell.
Past Perfect~ to show Past Past ^^ to show an action/ situation in the past already happened but before that action, another action actually had happened much earlier. For Ex: It was midnight and she asked me to join her for supper. I didn't accept her invitation because I had taken a late dinner. (means dinner was taken before she asked you)
Past Perfect Progressive ~ to show 2 past actions and how long between these 2 actions that had both stopped. For ex: He promised to meet me at 2 p.m. yesterday and I waited for him and he finally came at 3.30 p.m. So how to express the duration of the waiting period? It should be: I had been waiting for him for 1 and 1/2 hours by the time he finally arrived! Means NO LONGER WAITING ^^
Any questions? If you know the reason why you use these tenses, it will help you use them more effectively ^^

Tensed about tenses ^^
Dearest Students,
I guess tenses have proven to be NOT so super easy hyper easy ya ^^ It's ok, never say never so if we try our best and practice by trying online quizzes, I am so sure you will understand it better. Here is the MOST simplified version.
Simple Present = habit, facts, general statements
Present Progressive = An action which is happening NOW for a this week, year or month and is temporary.
Present Perfect = An action that already happened before NOW but don't know when it happened, An action that has been repeated a few times before NOW but Don't Know when exactly.
Use with Since and For means until NOW still true: Ex: We have studied in MMU for 11 weeks (Still here)
Present Perfect Progressive = An action that is still happening UNTIL NOW and you want to show HOW LONG (FOR) or SINCE WHEN (SINCE): Ex: I have been waiting for her for 1 hour ~means you are still waiting for her.
That's all for Present Tenses ;) Shall continue with Past Tenses tonight :)
